8.3 billion of your tax wasted

Thursday, 06 Oct 2011

IF you think the cost of living is increasing, you’re right.

In the last year food prices have risen by 6.1 percent, electricity 10.7 percent, petrol 11.3 percent and water 12.8 percent.

Each week it’s getting harder to ensure there’s enough money to pay the bills and buy groceries so families cannot waste a cent.

While Gold Coasters are being careful with their cash, the same cannot be said for the Gillard Government who continues to waste your tax dollars.

The Coalition’s Scrutiny of Government Committee has uncovered approximately $4.1 billion in new waste since the last election.

With Labor having lost control of our borders the immigration budget has blown-out by $1.57 billion, taking the total blow-out to $3 billion.

More than $1.5 billion has been wasted on the so-called Building the Education Revolution, taking the total waste to $3.2 billion.

The clean-up for the failed Home Insulation scheme has cost $500 million.

The set top box program has seen $67 million wasted in administration fees.

And Labor has given $20 million to unions.

Combined with the waste revealed before the last election Labor has now blown approximately $8.3 billion of your tax dollars!

That’s $8.3 billion that could have been spent on more hospital beds for the Gold Coast, widening the M1 or used to ease the cost of living burden on families.

This financial year Labor will borrow $135 million every day, or almost $1 billion a week, to fund its reckless spending spree.

Imagine if you ran your family budget like the Gillard Government runs the country?

You’d be broke because unlike Labor you’ve got no one to tax. Labor loves tax, since they formed Government in 2007 they have announced 14 new and increased taxes.

While Labor continues to waste your tax dollars, The Coalition has a way forward for economic growth and a better Australia. We will stop wasteful spending and rescind punishing taxes.
